With Financial support from The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF), ACODEV has received funding to implement a Civic Knowledge 2 Action: Strengthening Youth Involvement in Democratization (SYID) project in Uganda. The project’s geographic focus is Uganda/Western Region/ Kasese, Mukono and Wakiso districts. The project is working on developing youth leadership capacity and enhancing their participation in decision-making
such as advocating for youth priorities in the local government development plans in Kasese, Wakiso and Mukono districts of Western and Central Uganda.

The project is preparing to train 330 youth leaders from 30 youth Councils who’re in-turn are going to train 900 fellow lower level youth council leaders. The project is also reaching out to 2400 youth through 12 motivational speaker events at the different universities and secondary  schools and 1500 youth through small grants awareness events. Finally, the project will also help to increase the voices of youth through dialogues with local governments and visits to the Parliament.

Our appreciation goes to UNDEF by providing funding to implement all the activities set for the success of this project; this also goes to our key stakeholders from Uganda – Kasese, Wakiso and Mukono district for offering their full support and the move to own this project for sustainability.
