#SafeMotherHood ACODEV Joined the rest of the world to mark the Safe Motherhood day celebrations which took place in Kasese district; Bweisumbu Sub county on the 25th, November 2016; Theme of the day was “Expand opportunities for adolescent health; End Maternal Death”. The event was graced by the Kasese Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Winnie Kizza. Her key message to the general public was that “each community member has a role to play in encouraging mothers to deliver from health facilities than relying on the Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs); she also encouraged local community members to use modern family planning methods to be able to plan better for their families; mothers should ensure attendance of the four (4) Ante Natal Care Visits to be sure of their safety during birth. During the day, ACODEV Offered Family planning services through the trained Village Health Teams and Health workers; the FP services provided include Sayana Press, Depo-Provera, Implants, IUDs, Condoms and referral for permanent methods. Other partners who participated in the #SafeMotherHood Day event were Save the Children who pledged to construct a maternity ward at Bweisumbu Health Center II, this effort will elevate the center from II to HCIII, KALI, RHU, PACE (for Cancer screening), FHI360-APC & Medicine Sans Frontier. The district Health Officer pledged support by recruiting and posting midwives to the health center once the Maternity ward is complete.
