ACODEV Donates Health Equipment worth 121,300,322 Ugx to Health Centres in Adjumani, Mitooma, and Rubirizi Districts.

In the effort to address critical barriers concerning family planning service delivery in 3rd world countries such as Uganda, ACODEV with funding from Bergstrom Foundation has donated health equipment worth 121,300,322 Shillings to different health centres in the District Mitooma, Rubirizi and Adjumani with an aim to create a sustainable environment to aid quality family planning service provision within their communities.

ACODEV is implementing a community family planning project in all the districts with the goal to increase and sustain family planning use through community family planning service quality and access.

The 30 overall beneficiaries (health centres) in all districts such as Kasheshero HCIII for Mitooma, Mugula HCIV in Adjumani and Rugazi HCIV in Rubirizi districts received both consumable supplies (drugs) such as pain killers, anti abiotic and health equipment such as examination coaches, bed screens among others needed to administer the contraceptives.

We hope to gain confidence in the community members in the beneficiary health centres concerning the availability of family planning supplies and quality service provision as we continue to create awareness surrounding the myths and misconceptions about family planning.

Family planning helps prevents up to one-third of maternal deaths of women allowing them to delay motherhood, and space births, avoid unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortions, and stop having children when they have reached their desired family size.

As we believe “Nothing destroys a promising FP programme so successfully as running out of supplies and poor service delivery”

With this effort, we look forward to more women and men gaining interest and confidence in family planning services at the local health facilities.
